The Fellowship Program
The International Association of Dental Traumatology (IADT) offers members an opportunity to earn a Fellowship in Dental Traumatology. This prestigious award recognizes colleagues across all fields of clinical dentistry who provide treatment, teaching, support, and research, and who stimulate advances in the field of dental traumatology.
The award is based on a points system and an online examination. IADT members are eligible to enter the Fellowship process after 3 years of continuous full active membership. (Student membership is not full active membership)
Successful candidates will be honored as Fellows of the International Association of Dental Traumatology, identified on the IADT web page, and recognized at a special ceremony at an IADT congress.
The Benefits of Fellowship
The Fellowship will provide special status and acknowledgement from your peers and the general public that you have a proven knowledge in the diagnosis and treatment of dental trauma.
As a Fellow you will be:
• Entitled to use the term “Fellow of the International Association of Dental Traumatology” or the abbreviation “FIADT” on all correspondence and business and appointment cards where regional or local policy allows it.
• Allowed to use the IADT logo on stationery, advertisements, practice websites directory listings and for other designated uses.
• Expected to be contribute questions for the Fellowship examinations.
• Eligible to attend IADT Fellows’ functions at IADT World Congresses.
• Awarded a certificate suitable for framing.
• Awarded a special Fellowship lapel pin.
You retain your Fellowship status for as long as you remain a member in good standing of IADT.

Fellowship in Dental Traumatology
The Fellowship program was devised and approved to identify and reward individuals who have shown knowledge and committment to Dental Traumatology, and who have worked to promote both the science and practice of traumatology in their professional careers. It is intended to attract individuals preferably with at least 6-10 years experience post graduation or post specialisation so that the individuals would be known within the field of traumatology, have organised or presented officially within national or international meetings and have had an opportunity to become involved in our organisation. Active involvement in the organization is expected of every Fellow through participation in IADT committee work and developement.
Eligibility
IADT Members who have held continuous full memberships for 3 years, have demonstrated a variety of activities in dental traumatology, and passed an online examination will earn special recognition and the distinctive title of Fellow of the International Association of Dental Traumatology.
Applicants who seek eligibility to sit for the Fellowship examination must:
2.1 Have been a full active member of IADT for a minimum of 3 consecutive years immediately prior to Application AND
2.2 Have accumulated 12 points from activities in at least 3 different areas (See Appendix 1) AND
2.3 Candidates MUST be an author or co-author of a paper published on dental trauma in a journal with an impact factor of at least 1.0

The Fellowship examinations are held once each year. The next examination will be in October 2024. . The exam will be an online examination using English as the official language and the FDI World Dental Federation notation for tooth identification. The examination window will be over a few days over each examination period. The examination must be taken in a single sitting with a maximum time limit of 2 1//2 hours. The format will be 100 questions using multiple choice and extended matching questions. A score of 70% in the examination will be required to award Fellowship status. FYI Pass mark reduced from 75% to 70% by vote at IADT Board meeting in 2020.
