Visa and Passport Information

Every foreign visitor entering Turkey must possess a valid passport. The passport has to be valid until 6 months from the date they intend to enter Turkey.

Participants from countries requiring a visa for entry to Turkey are strongly advised to make their applications in their home countries at least one month before the intended date of travel. As of April 17, 2013, electronic visa (e-Visa) replaces “sticker visa” which was issued at the border crossings. Applicants just need to log on to www.evisa.gov.tr , provide the requested information, (after the application is approved) make online payment and download their e-Visa.

General Information

Conference Dates: June 19-21, 2014

Conference Venue: Military Museum and Cultural Center is the conference venue. It is located in Harbiye district on the European Side of Istanbul which is 2 minutes walking distance to Taksim square (city center).

Language: The official language of the conference is English.

  • Oral Abstract Presentations (Thursday, June 19th) will be presented in English. Simultaneous translation will not be provided..
  • Workshops (Thursday, June 19th) will be offered in either Turkish or English. Review each workshop on Workshop page for details. Simultaneous translation will not be provided.
  • General Sessions (Fri & Sat - June 20th-21st)- Simultaneous translation will be provided from English to Turkish during the General Sessions dates.

Registration and Information Services: The registration and information desks will be located at the entrance of conference venue and will be operating between 8:00 am and 6:00 pm. Registration fees cover access to the scientific sessions, the industry exhibits and the conference documents (Programme Book, Certificate of Attendance, Conference briefcase and badge). Participants who have not previously registered will be able to complete their registration formalities at "On-Site Registration Desks".

Certificate of Attendance: Certificate of attendance will be provided to all registered attendants.

Badges: Badges will be distributed at the registration desks. Participants without badges will not be admitted to the conference activities.

Speakers’ Ready Room: The Speakers’ Ready Room will be located at the Conference Venue and will be operating during the conference, with its high technology equipments.

Internet Cafe-Information Center: Internet Cafe and Information Center will be available to all participants during the conference between 08:00-18:00.

Airport Transfers: Premium transfer service from and to the Istanbul Airports will be provided for the participants upon request. Please send your requests in writing to Interium.

Taxis: Yellow cabs are widely available throughout the city. Taxi stations are available at the entrance of the hotels, shopping malls and airports. You can also hail cabs on the street.

Driving License: International Driving Licenses are recognized throughout Turkey. Car rental companies ask for a valid driving license. For your requests please contact conference secretariat.

Banks and Currency Exchange: The currency is the Turkish Lira (TL). Foreign currency can be exchanged at the airport or the front desk of your hotel. Local banks are open from 08:30 am to 5:00 pm from Monday to Friday. There are also private foreign exchange offices throughout the city that operate between 08:00 am to 8:00 pm.

Credit Cards: All major credit cards (Visa, MasterCard) are accepted in Turkey by restaurants, hotels, shops and at the Conference Registration Desks.

Climate: In June the weather is usually very pleasant in Istanbul. The average high is 27Co (80F) and the average low is 18Co (65F). Evenings could be chilly and delegates are therefore recommended to bring light jackets.

Electricity: The current in Turkey is 220 volts 50Hz.

Insurance: The meeting organizers cannot accept liability for personal injuries sustained or for loss of or damage to property belonging to conference participants (or their accompanying persons) either during the conference meetings and pre-post conference activities. Please obtain proper travel and health insurance prior to your trip.

Tipping: Tipping is not mandatory in Turkey. However it is customary to add 10% in restaurants if you are satisfied with the service.

Telephones: Pay phones are available in the city. Phone cards are widely available in shops. The international dialing code for Turkey is 90, and the code for Istanbul European side is 212, and for Istanbul Asian Side is 216. National calls: 0 + city code + telephone number International calls: 00 + country code + city code + telephone number

Time Zone: Time is two hours ahead of Greenwich Mean Time (GMT+2) in Turkey.


Meeting Cancellation Policy and Liability

By Registrant:
Refunds, minus a $75 administrative fee, will be issued on written cancellations received on or before June 1, 2014. Registration fees will only be refunded to the person who paid the registration fees, by the same method as the original payment (i.e. credit card, check, etc.) and in the case of a credit card only to the same credit card used to pay the registration fees. Telephone cancellations ARE NOT accepted. No refund requests will be offered after June 1, 2014.

By IADT:
The IADT reserve the right to cancel, shorten, delay, or otherwise alter or change the meeting in their discretion. If the entire meeting is cancelled the IADT sole obligation is to refund registration fees paid to IADT for the meeting by a registrant. If the meeting is delayed, shortened or otherwise altered or changed, IADT may in its discretion refund the registration fees paid to IADT by a registrant on a prorated basis, but is under no obligation to do so. Registration fees will only be refunded to the person who paid the registration fees, by the same method as the original payment (i.e. credit card, check, etc.) and in the case of a credit card only to the same credit card used to pay the registration fees. IADT is not liable for direct, indirect, incidental, consequential, exemplary, punitive, or damages of any other kind, regardless of the nature of the cause of action that may be asserted. IADT is not responsible and shall not pay for costs associated with travel, airfare, lodging, food, transportation or other costs or losses incurred by a registrant in connection with the meeting or as a result of the meeting being cancelled, shortened, delayed, or otherwise altered or changed. Registrants are solely responsible for such costs and losses and it is recommended that registrants consider purchasing sufficient insurance to cover such costs and losses. Under no circumstances shall the IADT liability to any registrant exceed the registration fees paid by the registrant to IADT in connection with the meeting.
